The 38th Annual South Miami Art Festival, a Fine Art Show featuring juried artists from across the country, returns to Sunset Drive between South Dixie Hwy and Red Road. The event is free to the public, providing an outstanding cultural experience for residents and visitors. The Festival kicks off the festival season in Miami-Dade County and provides a multi-cultural experience in a family setting.

"Arte Negril" opening Reception Saturday, August 1 at 2 p.m. at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center, 2650 Sistrunk Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and will feature world famous artist Purvis Young and acclaimed artists: Dania Sierra, Orestes Bouzon and Damien Cruz from Cuba; Elizabeth Baez from Puerto Rico; international artist Vaughn Tucker and "Elgo" from Jamaica; artist Melody Winnig from Boston and local South Florida artists Charles Mills, Fred Hunt , Donald and Ronald McKnight. Jazz & Funk “descargas”

Art in the Park will be held once again at Ponce Circle Park during Gables gallery night walks on the first Friday of the month. The series of concerts will have monthly themes beginning with October’s Hispanic Heritage Month, presenting on stage the smooth jazz of David Fernandez, followed by the masters of Cuban son, Conjunto Progreso, then Nil Lara’s cross cultural rhythms and closing with the Afrolatin descargafunk of Suénalo.
Throughout the park, the usual Friday “happy hour” experience with champagne & beer bars and a cigar lounge. LOCAL ARTIST WILL DISPLAY AND SELL THEIR WORK. Children are invited to take art lessons at “Little Picasso’s” village. The United States Postal Service will unveil the 42 cent Latin Jazz stamp during Art in the Park Hispanic Heritage celebration. UNVEILING OF DANIA SIERRA’S
ARTWORK FOR CARNAVAL ON THE MILE 2008 February

The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana has announced that this year’s Carnaval on the Mile 2008 poster will be unveiled during the Art in the Park Concert Series on February 1st at the Coral Gables Art Gallery Night. The eclectic work of local artist, Dania Sierra, has been selected as the poster representing this year’s theme.
Carnaval of the Mile 2008 poster is representative of her Cuban-American roots with her signature and brilliant execution of color and design that has earned this artist’s respect of her collectors and colleagues. The theme of “La Musica” defines the colorful, whimsical and festive event that is evident in every facet of Miami’s world-renown yearly Carnaval season.
The event will also include a musical "descarga" by Michelle Forman, Negroni's Trio, Brenand O'Hara & the Humble Ones and Suenalo Sound Systems and it is sponsored by Tamiami Automotive.
Ms. Sierra will be signing posters during the upcoming event between the hours of 7 PM and 11PM at Ponce Circle Park. She will also be one of the featured artists exhibiting in The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana’s Tenth Carnaval on the Mile, presented by Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge, on March 7-9th, 2008.
